Jaden Amal, H-555

Jayden is 5 years old. He lost his father and now lives with his mother who is frequently in hospital because of her illness. With his mother often away seeking treatment he is left vulnerable and without the care and support he desperately needs.

For Jayden going to school is not guaranteed. Many days he is forced to remain at home because his mother cannot afford a school uniform, levies and other basic requirements due to her bedridden while other children his age look forward to going to school and playing with their friends his biggest concern is often whether there will be food to eat that day.

His older brother who was only 14 years old has already been forced to leave school because of the family’s circumstances. He now spends his days roaming the streets, with little hope or direction. This deeply worries me because I fear that Jayden could be pushed down the same path if nothing changes.
